Al Ahlam is a charitable association that supports people with hearing and speech disabilities. Run by Syrian ladies from Aleppo, Al Ahlam have specialized private learning facilities for deaf and hearing impaired individuals. Currently catering for 400 male and female students, Al Ahlam are working with the Syrian government to continually improve the facilities at the institution and to achieve positive results that prepare students for integration into state schools. Students are also taught practical skills to equip them for a better future.
Our aim is to provide all our students with individual hearing aids and train them to use and maintain the hearing aid with the support of our specialist doctor. We aim to buy hearing test equipment and specialist machines that help to correct speech in people with hearing loss. We aim to create a `hearing classroom` in accordance with the latest techniques and using the most up-to-date technology. We are also working to set up a computer room and a gym at the institution.
Al Ahlam work closely with children from an early age and with their parents through educational programmes to teach parents how to deal effectively with their children at home.
